A message from District Governor Charlie Kelly - July 5 2005

Welcome to the start of Rotary's Second Hundred Years. At the recent International Convention in Chicago, the slogan splashed across the wide screen was "A Century of Service; A New Century of Success".

DG Charlie Kelly

District 5130 is going to have an awesome year, with growing membership and with more personal involvement, with greater understanding of Rotary's programs and with increased connections to our communities, to other clubs, and to the world.

Our RI President, Carl-Wilhelm Stenhammar, has chosen a very familiar phrase for the 2005-2006 Theme: "Service Above Self"; yes, that's the motto that we've proudly displayed for decades. This year, we're being asked to re-dedicate ourselves to Rotary's basics, to strengthen and deepen our "roots".

You will be offered increased support at all levels - from the District leadership to Rotary International. You will see more of Rotary in the public media. Your District Committee Chairs will pro-actively bring their programs to you. You will find more and more reasons to be proud to be a Rotarian.

And…. We will have an awesome year!

DG Charlie
