It is with great sadness that I once again must inform our district of the passing of one of our past District Governors, Sid Berlin, a member of the Rotary Club of Calistoga. Sid slipped away this past Sunday afternoon about 3:30, looking out at the vineyard he so loved. His wife, Peggy said that he puckered up to give her a kiss at the last moment- a wonderful tribute to their enduring love.
Sid served as Governor in 1986-87 when we were still District 513. He continued to serve Rotary thru his club and the district. Many Rotarians were on Sid's humor e-mail list and looked forward to the regular if sometimes not quite politically correct writings from him. A notable singer, Sid would lead any Rotary Club he visited in song and fellowship. He served as club bulletin editor for many years. Sid led Rotarians on the Festival of Brotherhood trips to District 4150 in Guadalajara numerous times helping grow the Festival to what is it today.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2005 at 3:30 p.m. at Congregation Beth Sholom, 1455 Elm, Napa. You may read more from the Thursday
Press Democrat.
