Michael J. Stapleton passed away on Jan. 18, 2010, after a very long ordeal with cancer. He was born in San Francisco and attended St. Agnes Elementary School.

He attended High School in Munich, Germany, and graduated from the University of San Francisco in 1958. Michael was commissioned in the United States Army. His business career included association with Ernst & Ernst, Homestake Mining Company, and Foremost International.

He later opened First World Travel Agency in Napa. Michael was a frequent worldwide traveler. His hobbies included golf and photography. He was a Rotarian for 30 years and served twice as president of the North Napa Rotary Club.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Joseph M. Stapleton and Evelyn Raymond Stapleton; his twin brother, Philip Stapleton; sisters Eve Marie Stapleton and Joan Stapleton Rockwell; and his son, Mark Andrew Stapleton.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Tulocay Funeral Home.
