Upon leaving the military after 2 years, he joined IBM in Kingston, NY. He remained with IBM for the next 30 years. His career included assignments in New York, Pennsylvania, and Illinois working in application program design and process control program development. He left the lab and joined the IBM marketing force as a systems engineer, returning to California in the early 1970’s, moving to Sebastopol in 1972. Bruce was introduced to Rotary by a client, Fred Steele of the Rotary Club of Willits and was invited to join the
Rotary Club of Sebastopol
in 1979 by his father, Ad Campbell, secretary of the club. IBM sent Bruce to Boca Raton Florida in the middle 1980’s where he was on the Charter Board of Directors of the Boca Raton West Rotary Club. Serving that club as secretary, he was selected to be President-Elect, but another business move prevented him from serving as he returned once again to California and to Sebastopol. Bruce retired after 30 years with IBM in 1992. During his career, he received numerous awards including being named Divisional Systems Engineer of the Year. He was invited to attend several Systems Engineering Symposiums and the 100% Club
