Heard at the Rancho Cotati club, Jake Mackenzie, who is the mayor of Rohnert Park and a member of the SMART Train Board talk about the plans and future of SMART train for Sonoma and Marin.
I thought he gave a great talk and power point presentation about the train, its costs, and future role in Sonoma and Marin and would recommend him as a speaker at your club.

My wife and I attended a movie at the Santa Rosa film Festival called "Only a Number". It is the story of a Hungarian Jewish woman who survived the Holocaust.
After the movie a very sweet 87 year old woman named Lillian Judd spent about 10 minutes telling her stories which were very similar to the movie in that she was also a Holocaust survivor from the same region that was also sent to Auschwitz. Thousands of these survivors are dying monthly and their story needs to be told so another holocaust doesn't happen again from the worlds indifference as is still happening in Darfur and did happen in Serbia.
She has talked to high schools, Sonoma State, SRJC, and Sebastopol Rotary among many others. I think this is a powerful story that your Rotarians should hear. She lives in Santa Rosa and her son, said she would try to make as many meetings as possible to get her story out to the public. She has written a book called" From Nightmare to Freedom" about her experience.

Tattooing with "Ernie Spaghetti Buletti". Actually, I cringed as this program started. I thought this topic wouldn't fit our Club Member's interests, but there were 20 Rotarians up at the podium after the meeting asking questions and showing off their tattoos!

“Ethics & Law Issues Today” – something a little different!
Attorney Charlie Cochran is an instructor in Ethics for the California Bar Association’s program of Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE). In his engaging presentation about “big picture” ethical issues in law, he includes interesting info about the life and professional accomplishments of Rotary’s founder, attorney Paul Harris. My club really enjoyed this program.
