We met Julius at the Intl. Convention and were impressed with his motivation to give back to his community. Here's an excerpt from his email regarding his club's projects. Julius is president of the club this year.

If you are interested in any of their projects, please contact him at juliustwesigye@kakirasugar.com.

"In our Club, we are coming out of a history of inactivity, and trying to be a rotary club of rotarians, not only in name but action. So we have a student we co-sponsor in school (the student is special in that she is an orphan girl, pulled out of a slum and from a backward tribe of cattle-keeper warriors). We are also engaged in afforestation/orchard trees planting on the hillside of a neighbouring area whose stormwater ends in Lake Victoria near Source of the Nile. We are involved in distribution of beds, blankets, mattresses to orphanages.

Some of the projects we are looking for partners are:

Harvesting and supply of rainwater to a school and needy in a slum.
Developing a village resource centre (library, telephone booth/call centre, adult literacy room, immunisation room, public toilet/washroom, etc) all in one.
Sinking a borehole for a secondary school.
Developing a market shade for a roadside highway day market and a saving/microfinance scheme for the vendors.

Kindly share this information with your club in case they are interested partnering with us in implementing some of the above."
