Not only is this World Rotaract Week, this year Rotaract turns 50!
Rotaract clubs are Rotary partners. These clubs bring together people ages 18-30 to exchange ideas with leaders in the community, develop leadership and professional skills, and have fun through service.
In communities worldwide, Rotary and Rotaract members work side by side to take action through service.
In District 5130 we have some truly amazing Rotaract Clubs. Read on for a peek into just some of what these amazing Rotaractors are doing:
This year the Rotaract Club of Sonoma State University was able to send two members on a Rotaplast mission to Chittagong, Bangladesh to help a team of medical volunteers working to eliminating the burden of cleft lip &/or palate, burn scarring, and other deformities. Find out more.
This year North Bay Rotaract in Arcata hosted their 4th Annual Fun Run for a Cause raising funds for Special Olympics of Humboldt and Wild Souls Ranch. They also worked to help homeless individuals locally and sponsored a young girl’s education in Mexico. This weekend in partnership with one of their sponsoring clubs they are hosting the 11th Annual Humboldt Wine Fest. Find out more.
This year Lost Coast Rotaract of Eureka has chosen to focus their efforts on environmental causes including bi-monthly beach cleanup events and trail days. They have also partnered with nonprofit InspireOne to help save a school in Uganda. Find out more.
Rotaract members decide how to organize and run their clubs, manage their own funds, and plan and carry out activities and service projects. Rotary club sponsors offer guidance and support and work with clubs as partners in service. In District 5130 our Rotaract Clubs have their own leadership as well. This year’s amazing District Rotaract Representative is Sophie Saucedo!
