If you have ever been photographed at a Valley of the Moon Rotary event, the chances are that on the other side of the lens was Maureen McGettigan. Maureen is a member of the club, having joined back in 2013. She is retired from her role as a photojournalist, but the camera is still an integral part of her world.
That camera has gotten her some notoriety in the world of Rotary. The June 2025 edition of the magazine that every Rotarian receives has her photo of a camel participating in the Pushkar Camel Fair in India. Her photo gets the front cover, and another of her photos is featured on page 32, as she is recognized as a winner of the Rotary Photo Contest.
This wasn’t her first time to be recognized for her photography. In 2022, Maureen’s photo took second place in the annual photo contest. This year, there was no order to the photo awards, just a recognition of being a winner.
Maureen is a world traveler these days, and her camera is a constant companion. She shares her creative photos with her club, and you can view the video of her recent trip to Antarctica by clicking here!
